Early HIV infection may cause symptoms resembling the flu, such as fever, fatigue, sore throat, rash, and swollen lymph nodes, typically occurring 2-4 weeks after exposure. These symptoms, known as acute retroviral syndrome (ARS), are temporary and may be mild or unnoticed. Regular HIV testing is crucial, as many people remain asymptomatic for years.
