What is pooled HIV testing, and when is it used?

Pooled HIV testing combines blood samples from multiple individuals and tests them together. If the pooled sample tests positive, individual samples are tested separately to identify the positive case. This method is used for cost-effective screening in low-prevalence populations or large-scale testing campaigns, such as blood donation drives.
