What is a STD Test Package - Comprehensive ?

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or sexually transmitted infections (STIs) spread primarily through sexual contact. These conditions are highly contagious and, without treatment, can lead to serious health issues, such as HIV, which can be life-threatening. Therefore, it is crucial to get tested if you're sexually active or involved in high-risk behaviour.

Our STD Package Comprehensive offers a complete set of 11 tests designed to screen for various STDs. This includes tests for hepatitis B and C (HBsAg and anti-HCV), essential for identifying viral infections. It also screens for chlamydia with the chlamydia trachomatis test, HIV 1 and 2, and herpes using HSV Type I & II antibody tests. Gonorrhoea and syphilis are evaluated through PCR (Qualitative) testing, offering a thorough assessment for the early detection and treatment of STIs.

STD Test Package - Comprehensive Parameters

    HBsAg (ECLIA)

HBsAg test is a quantitative test detects the presence of hepatitis B surface antigen in serum or plasma blood samples. This Hepatitis B surface antigen test is the earliest indicator of acute hepatitis B and frequently identifies the infection.

    VDRL Qualitative

VDRL test checks whether you have syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection (STI). It is a screening test for syphilis. Syphilis is caused by the bacterium called Treponema pallidum. The bacterium penetrating by infecting the into the lining of the mouth or genital area. The VDRL doesn’t look for the bacteria which cause syphilis. Instead, it checks for the antibodies which the body makes in response to the antigens produced by the damaged by the bacteria or toxins.

    Chlamydia Trachomatis antibody IgG

The Chlamydia Trachomatis antibody IgG test is to measure: • The Anti-chlamydia antibodies IgG test is used to analyse the levels of anti-chlamydia antibodies IgG in the blood. This test helps mainly in diagnosing a chlamydia infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. • Chlamydia is one of the most commonly found bacteria in sexually transmitted infections and may lead to serious complications like a pelvic inflammatory disease in women, infertility, increased risk of tubal pregnancy, which may be fatal, etc. if it is left untreated. The early detection of this infection is very important to avoid long-term complications and also to prevent the infection from spreading to the other parts. • This Chlamydia test looks for evidence of infection with the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis. There were several types of tests that could be used to detect chlamydia, including molecular testing, also called Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) and cell culture.

    Chlamydia Trachomatis antibody IgM

Anti-chlamydia antibodies IgM test is used to analyse and measure the levels of anti-chlamydia antibodies (IgM) in the blood. This test helps in identifying a chlamydia infection caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. This infection is associated with the mucous membrane of the urogenital system, eye, and upper respiratory tract. This test is very useful in identifying the site of infection, previous exposure to these antigens, and the duration of the disease. Most of the time, this infection is seen in sexually active individuals. This can be transmitted sexually. If the individuals are reinfected with chlamydia infection, IgM antibodies may not appear.

Hepatitis C Virus antibodies (Anti HCV) - Total

A Hepatitis C virus antibody test is a blood test is been done to analyse whether or not someone has been infected with hepatitis C virus. The HCV antibody test is also known as anti – HCV test which examines the person’s blood for antibodies to hepatitis C virus test that may be positive or negative.

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type I & II antibodies IgG

Herpes simplex virus Type I & II IgG antibodies test checks whether you are been infected to this virus. Blood test checks to evaluate to find in your body for specific antibodies. Antibodies are the protein which the immune system which produces in order to fight specific pathogens commonly bacteria and viruses HSV-1 or HSV-2. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) Type I & II antibodies IgG is the indication of past infection. The HSV is categorised into 2 types. They are HSV-1 and HSV-2. Herpes -1 is transmitted by oral-to-oral contact and caused sores or herpes across in the mouth. Herpes-2 is transmitted sexually and caused infection in the genital or anal area. Both Herpes -1 & Herpes -2 are the infections for life.

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type I & II antibodies IgM

Herpes simplex virus (HSV) type 1 & 2 antibodies IgM test checks whether you have been infected to this virus. HSV 1 & 2 IgM antibodies indicates the present infection that is occurred. Blood test checks for any specific antibodies in the body. Antibodies are the proteins which the immune system produces in order to fight the specific pathogens like Herpes Simplex virus I & II. The HSV is categorised into 2 types. They are HSV 1 and HSV 2. Herpes -1 is transmitted by oral-to-oral contact and caused sores or herpes across in the mouth. Herpes -2 is transmitted sexually and caused infection in the genital or anal area.

    Treponema Pallidum Haemagglutination Assay (TPHA)

Treponema pallidum haemagglutination (TPHA) is a confirmatory test for syphilis. Sexually transmitted disease that spread when a person comes in contact of an infected person during sexual activity. Sexually transmitted diseases can spread easily if precautions are not taken. Syphilis is a sexually caused by a bacteria known as treponema pallidum. The test involves the process of haemagglutination, in which the antigen and antibodies are combined with erythrocytes (RBC) causing the red cells to clump together.

    HIV 1&2 (ECLIA)

An Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The HIV virus is of two types: HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 is found in AIDS patients, AIDS-related complex patients, and those people who are at high risk of getting affected by AIDS. The HIV virus may be transmitted by sexual contact, exposure to blood or blood products of infected patients, or transfer of infection from AIDS - an infected mother to the foetus. Antigens for HIV appears early as with in 2 to 4 weeks of infection, Antibodies tests can only detect HIV from 3 to 12 weeks after the infection. In most cases, HIV-2 infected patients are seen, and it is detected in patients who had sexual contact with people in that geographic region.

    Anti Treponema Pallidum (TPAB) antibody

TPHA (Treponema Pallidum hemagglutination) test is confirmatory for specific to Syphilis bacterium. Treponema pallidum antibodies will appear earlier after the acute infection than non-treponemal antibodies. Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease, and its first sign is a painless sore in the mouth or sexual organs. It is not treated well in time it may lead to the fatal conditions such as blindness, deafness, mental illness, memory loss, stroke, meningitis and neurosyphilis. The people who is suffering from syphilis are at a high risk of HIV infection.

    Gonorrhoea PCR (Qualitative)

Gonorrhea is a common and STI (sexually transmitted infection) which can affect both men and women. This infection often doesn’t show any symptoms. Especially in the early stages, which makes it particularly dangerous as it may lead to very serious health complications if it is untreated. The Polymerase chain reaction method (PCR) is highly accurate and sensitive allowing the detection even in the early stages of infection.
