The blood sample for the Dengue ELISA test is collected through a standard venipuncture procedure. A healthcare professional will clean the area of your arm where the blood will be drawn with an antiseptic. A tourniquet is then applied to the upper arm to fill the veins with blood, making them easier to locate. A sterile needle is inserted into a vein, usually in the arm, and blood is drawn into a test tube or vial. The needle is then removed, and pressure is applied to the puncture site to stop any bleeding. The collected blood sample is sent to a laboratory where the ELISA method is used to detect the presence of dengue antibodies or antigens.
