What is considered a dangerously high creatinine level?

A creatinine level above 1.2 mg/dL in women and 1.4 mg/dL in men is generally considered elevated and may indicate kidney dysfunction. Levels significantly higher than this, particularly in combination with a low glomerular filtration rate (GFR), can indicate acute kidney injury or advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD). Creatinine levels above 5.0 mg/dL are considered dangerously high and may require immediate medical intervention, such as dialysis, to prevent further kidney damage or failure.
